NASK-PIB

Research interests: cybersecurity, machine learning, artificial intelligence security
Mateusz Krzysztoń leads a team that conducts research and development work on the application of machine learning in cybersecurity. The first area of research concerns the detection of unknown threats in cyberspace, including new malicious applications on mobile devices or new types of attacks on ICT systems, through network traffic observation. The second area is examining and assessing the security of machine learning models, particularly their vulnerability to attacks.

His team’s greatest success was the development of a lightweight detector for new malicious Android applications. The detector operates entirely on the client’s mobile device, ensuring that information about applications installed by the user does not leave their device. The solution is currently being implemented as part of the BotSense system, widely used in Poland by banking institutions.
